DMX Map DAT

Summary

The DMX Map DAT references a DMX Out POP or a DMX Fixture POP and outputs their DMX universes in table format. The DMX Map DAT is useful for visualizing DMX universe layouts and in the case of the DMX Out POP it can be helpful for debugging channel conflicts between DMX Fixture POPs.

Parameters - DMX Map Page

Active active - When enabled, the DAT will grab up-to-date DMX universe data. When disabled, will hold the last universe state.

Update Value updateval - When enabled, the value column will update with the latest value. When disabled, it will hold the last value unless there is some change in the universe that rearranges channels.

Update Value Pulse updatevalpulse - When pulsed, will grab the update to the latest value.

DMX Fixture/Out POP dmxpop - The DMX Fixture POP or DMX Out POP from which to fetch the DMX universe data.

Exclude Unused Channels excludeunused - When disabled, all 512 channels of each DMX universe will be output to the table. When enabled, only the channels with a value set by the POP will be included in the output.

An Operator Family that manipulates text strings: multi-line text or tables. Multi-line text is often a python Script or GLSL Shader, but can be any multi-line text. Tables are rows and columns of cells, each containing a text string.

POPs (Point Operators) is a new Operator Family of TouchDesigner that runs on the GPU accelerated graphics card or chips, and creates/modifies 3D data which is rendered by the Render TOP or passed to devices like DMX lighting, LED arrays, lasers or other external systems.

To "pulse" a parameter is to send it a signal from (1) an exported CHOP channel or (2) a python command or (3) a mouse click that causes a new action to occur immediately. A pulse via python is via the .pulse() function on a pulse-type parameter, such as Reset parameter in a Speed CHOP. A pulse from a CHOP is typically a 0 to 1 to 0 signal in an exported channel.

Operators that need 1 or more inputs are called Filters in TouchDesigner, like a Math CHOP. See Generator.

The generic thing that holds an Operator, and includes Flags (display, bypass, lock, render, immune) and its position/size in the network. Whether you "lay down an Operator" or "lay down an Node", you're doing the same thing.
